20 June 2007 - Remember all the ground crop photos? The ground crop, sometimes rye, is planted in the Fall, so that the plant roots will hold the top soil in place during the Winter rains, winds and storms. Now the rye is sprayed, killed and knocked down. Pumpkins will be plants through it, and the matted of plant material will protect the growning pumpkin seeds. |
