Apple Picking at Homestead Farm
Welcome to the Apple Harvest Tour at Homestead Farm! This program is design ed for 1st through 4th grade students, with differences in emphasis depending on the age group. Our entertaining and educational tour offers surprising delights and fascinating facts about apples, learned both in hands-on activities and in personal instruction from the farmer. See below for more information about the tour. Then call us at 301-926-6999 to arrange a time for your visit. Available in September.
Students will:
- Join the farmer on a hayride to the apple orchards.
- Hear stories and learn about the lifecycle of apples.
- Pick a small bag (provided) of the fruit from our dwarf apple trees.
- Taste the juicy, delicious apples, straight off the tree.
- Meet baby animals in the barnyards (goats, chicks, lambs, and others).
Follow-up
- Each child will receive a coloring book.
- Picnics are welcome after the tour. Bring blankets to sit on.
Cost
- $6.00 for each student, teacher, and parent (minimum group size is 20).

Please collect money in advance and bring a check payable to Homestead Farm on the day of the tour. To make your reservation, call 301-926-6999 and speak with Ben Allnutt or Cathy Metcalf. The best time to reach us is 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or leave a message specifying a time when we can call you back.
