Teachers are the backbone of our Society! Yea Teachers!

Teachers in the area have brought their classes to Homestead Farm for many years. The experiences we offer are not only educational but fun as well!

Homestead Farm offers five special tours.

Spring Blossom Tours are offered in April/May
Strawberry Picking Tour in June
Thornless Blackberries Tour in July/August
Apple Harvest Tours start in September, and
Pumpkin Patch Tours continue into October

Click on the tours above to go to a page describing the tour. All tours are available to teachers and their classes. Plan ahead! Then call 301-926-6999 to arrange a time for your tour.

When bringing your group to Homestead Farm we have learned a few helpful tips from teachers all over Montgomery County. We'd like to share them with you.

1. When planning to pay for your trip, collect all monies in advance. Remember we do not accept credit cards.
2. Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early, so that you have a better chance of being on time. Handling parent chaperones may be challenging in itself.
3. Portable toilets and hand washing are available.
4. Bring a black marker to write children's names on the bottom of the pumpkins.
5. We'll be asking you to pay for your trip at the beginning of your tour this year; we believe that this will be easier for you as we will be there to help you in counting your group. Also, any late arrivals will have that opportunity to make the trip.
6. The tour takes about 60 to 90 minutes, if you plan to bring lunches you will need more time.
7. Reservations are a must. We fill up very quickly so call to book your group early to be assured the date you would prefer.
8. Bussing has become difficult for everyone as they often cost more than the fieldtrip itself. Carpools are cheaper but a lot more work.
9. We suggest comfortable shoes as we are a farm and there will be lots of walking.
10. Keep in mind the charge is $6.00 per person. That means every child and every adult is charged $6.00.
11. Many teachers have started selling nametags to their parent chaperones so that they know at a glance who has paid them and who has not.
12. Apples and coloring pages will still be provided at the end of the tour.

Coloring is a great activity. We've created a Homestead Farm coloring page. Halloween pages too!
